Paulie is such a sweet boy. He loves to just hang out and nap during the day with a few zoomies sprinkled throughout the day. He will let you know if something is wrong with a bit of whining, but other than that he has not been much of a barker. He has some separation and social anxiety. Once he’s comfortable with his owners he’ll love to spend time with them, but he needs a minute to warm up to new people. He loves to be a little shadow and check on you whenever you get up to go somewhere. He loves to sit right up next you on the couch, and loves scratches behind his ears. He does like to take socks from the laundry basket, but don’t worry he just likes to collect them in his bed.
As he’s settled, Paulie has had less accidents inside and gotten back on a normal eating schedule. He has not shown any preferences towards certain foods yet. He likes his kibble with a bit of canned wet food for his meals. He likes toys he can chew on like bones and chew sticks. He will chew through stuffed toys. He is in the works of being house trained. He sleeps through the night and loves his daytime naps. He likes to sleep in the same room as his owners on a day bed. He is also still in the process of being crate trained. He likes a crate that he can lay down in. He will need his muzzle when he is in his crate as he bites on the wires when anxious. He will whine for a bit when initially left in the crate, but he is learning to settle by himself. He may do better with other dogs in the house as he does not like being by himself.
Paulie walks very well with his harness and on leash. He’ll walk right beside you until he has to relieve himself or find an interesting sniff. He like to birdwatch, but make sure to have a firm hold on the leash when a squirrel or rabbit goes by because he likes to go after them. He gets a little anxious when outside with fireworks going off, but once inside he can sleep through them. He loves a good thunderstorm to sleep right through. Paulie also likes to watch TV (Gilmore Girls and Bluey have been our go to so far). He is excited to meet his forever family or just hang out with loving people!
