Jaka is a handsome black greyhound who joined American Greyhound in July! This sweet boy is three years old, and his birthday is just around the corner, on September 21. He is one of the smaller greyhounds who has come to us from Romford in the UK, weighing about 73 pounds – an average size for a male.
Jaka is a retired racer, but his career was short-lived – he sustained a small fracture in 2024 to one of his hocks, which was repaired with two screws. It’s healed “beautifully” according to his kennel vet, and does not impact him at all.
Jaka is “always pleased to see you” according to volunteers at Romford, which means he can be a bit excitable when first greeting someone or being let out of his crate. He settles down quickly, though, and his happy personality shines through.
In the UK, Jaka’s kennelmate was a female, who he got along with very well. He was small-dog tested in the UK, but the results were not clear. He will be retested now that he is with his foster family, and will complete a cat test soon as well.
All those who meet him say Jaka will make a great family pet, and we agree! His joyful demeanor will add lots of life to any home.
