Hermes came to the US from Scooby Medina shelter in Spain on May 8. He is six years old, and gets along well with other dogs, especially those his own size. His crate at the shelter in Spain had three other dogs in addition to him, so we know he is good at making canine friends!
Hermes stayed in his first foster home for several weeks, and they said he was an wonderful boy. They described him as a quiet, sweet, and friendly dog with good leash manners and no housetraining concerns. He is laid back and values companionship with his humans.
Hermes was very leery of men when he first came to the US, as many galgos are. In his first foster home, he would often bark at Foster Dad whenever he moved around the house. In order to give Hermes an easier transition, it was decided that he might do best in a different home for a while. He was initially afraid of the men there as well, but now has had several additional weeks to decompress and learn that men aren’t as scary as they first seemed. He gets along well with everyone in his foster family now – it seems like he just needed a bit more time to come out of his shell!
Hermes is not afraid of loud noises or storms. He loves treats, playing with toys, and being your shadow. Oh, and he certainly loves boat rides on the lake, too! Hermes isn’t a fan of cats or small dogs but does fine with the other resident dogs. He also sleeps through the night – this handsome boy just needs a bed to call his own!
More details will be added as soon as we get them!
