“I adopted Sassafras aka Princess right after my Icey passed away. Ashley and the rest of the team couldn’t have been kinder to me. I had a wonderful adoption experience with American Greyhound. So much so that when we decided to adopt a second greyhound, I contacted Ashley again and adopted Honey Bea aka Jigsaw Foxxy. I highly recommend American Greyhound.”

I adopted Chelsie, my first greyhound, in August 2016. American Greyhound matched me with the most perfect dog; Chelsie has changed my life. She has taught me the simple joy of a slow walk, the virtue of a long nap, and the warmth of a wet doggie kiss. The American Greyhound community is as kind and generous as Chelsie. They take such good care of the newly retired dogs until they find the perfect furever family, and then you become part of the American Greyhound family. There is amazing support to be found in American Greyhound, both for our beautiful greyhounds and for one another. The day I adopted Chelsie from American Greyhound is the day I was adopted by a community of new friends and volunteers. Chelsie and I are so lucky!

“When adopted our brindle greyhound Katy, she came to us fully trained, and we loved her sweet personality. She is now 10 years old and still a sweet loving girl, but does have a little arthritis which doesn’t affect her activity. Our other girl, Oodle is black with a white chest, and was and born in 2011. She was in the TGIE prison program where they help the dogs adapt to life off the track. Oodle is full of spunk and energy, and we really love her cute personality. American Greyhound did a wonderful job helping us adopt these dogs. They truly care about the program and it shows.”

Our family was ready to have a dog join our family, and I specifically wanted a retired racer, after having one a decade ago. American Greyhound was recommended to us and when we looked at the listings for the dogs, we found terrific descriptions of their personalities and behaviors. Titan looked like the perfect match for our family and after filling out an application, having a home visit to check us out, we got the phone call we could pick him up the next day. We’ve fallen in love with this sweet, goofy guy and his personality has only blossomed more in the past year he’s been with us. We also really loved that he participated in TGIE that helped him to learn his house manners. Fantastic experience all around with American Greyhound.

My husband and I came to American Greyhound looking to add to our family, after our previous dog had passed. We sent an email asking about a few of the dogs we saw on the website, and very quickly got a friendly reply from Ashley, one of their Adoption Coordinators. We met with Ashley who introduced us to Par Lucy (now Koda) and fell in love. We also met an outgoing PTL Fazil (now Gromit) and decided that we wanted him in our family too. After losing our Coonhound in 2017, we adopted our Drake from AG. We recommend American Greyhound to everyone we meet, because we have had such a wonderful experience with them.

“I had such a great experience with American Greyhound. The people are so friendly and passionate about the greyhounds. I love their willingness to help other groups with their greyhound hauls and their partnership with the prison program TGIE. I now do meet and greets with the group every month.”

I adopted my Florence from American Greyhound, and she is honestly the perfect dog!! If I had sat down and checked off exactly what I wanted in a dog, I still don’t think I would’ve ended up with a dog as wonderful as Flo!! I never knew that a Greyhound was missing from my life until we got her, and now I’d never want to be without one, as our sweet “Beanie” just seamlessly fit into our daily life. I’m happy to be a voice for this cause because they are so worth adopting, and we are so thankful to the American Greyhound organization for pairing us with “Beanie” – she has changed our lives for the better!

We just adopted our second from American greyhound. Couldn’t be happier with the experience. Everyone goes out of their way to fit you with the right dog and go above and beyond for all of their dogs.
