Elf is a five year old boy who is ready to find his forever home when he comes to American Greyhound this October! Born June 25, 2020, Elf weighs about 70 pounds and is a gorgeous black dog.
Volunteers in the UK describe Elf as “adorable, cheeky, and loveable”, and say he loves attention! He absolutely adores humans and has been home-tested. He can do stairs and is not phased by household noises. The kennel team say Elf is intelligent, funny, and lively, “and nuts in the best of ways”.
Elf walks well on the leash and wags his entire rear end when happy. He loves to play with toys, either with you or on his own, and is partial to a nice puppacino from the cafe. He is a “champion sausage catcher”, so have some treats ready! Elf does seem to need more mental stimulation that most greyhounds, and is either awake and excited, or asleep.
One important thing to note about Elf is that he can be reactive towards other dogs, primarily other breeds. He tends to bark a lot when he sees them, and especially if they get too close. He does respond to his name and his highly food-motivated, so with the right person, he could likely be trained out of this. Elf is not cat or small dog safe, and the volunteers at Romford believe he would do best as a single dog. With the right home, he will be a wonderful pet for his adopters!
